Digital Marketing Resources
Nice Social Media Resources — this is another post, like “Learn Something New”, where I’ll continue to add to and build.
- Rafflecopter - Just came across the coolest tool ever for running giveaways (aka a “raffle”)
- Piktochart - one of the best Infographic makers I’ve come across.
- PinGraphy - although there are many Pinterest apps and tools out there, this looks like one of the best. It lets you schedule your pins, find influential pinners, and track results.
- Dashboard Junkie - Free, ready-made Google Analytics dashboards for different purposes…now who wouldn’t love that?! This links to my favorite, the social media dashboard.
- PicMonkey - As many of you know, having a catchy image with some text is becoming increasingly important. Here’s one of my favorite image creation tools. EXTREMELY easy and intuitive to use. Oh, and did I mention it’s free? :)
- Vizualize.me - Connects with your LinkedIn profile and provides your experience in a visual way. This includes a timeline, a skill-set list, recommendations and links.
- Minilytics - Looks like a decent (and FREE!) FB analytics app. I just saw this article, super pumped to try it! The “best time to post” feature looks especially promising.
- Crowdbooster - One of the best, lower costing social analytic tools out there. Centers around Twitter and Facebook.
- List of top content creation tools - Includes all the “best tools” for 2013, including tools for: websites & blog management, videos, webinars, infographics, social media management, and more. Some you probably know (Wordpress, Adobe Acrobat… duhhh), but others you may not have heard of.
Always Learning
To keep my skills up to par, I’ve decided to learn a new “trick” on a regular basis. Everything will have something to do with social media or digital marketing. These will all be practical tips that I’ll be able to use for my day-to-day work….or something I can use for larger projects.
I figured, hey, if I’m going to learn something new, I might as well let my loyal fans benefit from it as well!
1. Nice Points on Running a successful Facebook contest and remaining within the Facebook Rules
Main takeaway — “The biggest rule is that you need to administer the contest through an Application. That means you need to run your contest on a tab on your Page rather than by having them respond to a Wall post or uploading a picture to your wall or similar-type no-nos.”
2. Tips on when & how to be snarky. I’m not sure if it counts as a skill, but still a fun read!
Main takeaway — It basically differs depending on the industry. The best way to find out page is to test various times. In any case, weekends are generally good times to post, as well as “off hours”.

Attention Community Managers: How do you increase Facebook Page Engagement?

How do you increase Facebook Page Engagement?
In nearly 4 years of social media marketing, I’ve never had to deal with this situation before… I’d love to hear thoughts from other community managers and social media marketing pros. If you have any ideas - please let me know and I’ll owe you BIG TIME!!
Here’s the situation:
I’m doing community management for a startup…part of my responsibility is promoting engagement on their FB Page. Some startups I’ve worked for literally have 100 or less likes, and I’m basically starting from scratch. Other more established small-companies or startups I’ve worked for have several thousand Likes and decent engagement rates.
This company is somewhere in the middle. They have over 6K Likes on Facebook, HOWEVER, there is VERY LITTLE engagement. They’ve gotten most of these likes through paid promotions, paid advertising, etc.
What I want to do is get some organic (read: FREE) traffic and interaction on their Facebook Page, but I’m not really sure where to start.
We’ve got a pretty cool campaign in the works, and that should definitely help. Besides campaign ideas, does anyone have any solid general tips for me to boost organic engagement here? I’m also open to using Facebook apps if you know of any good ones.
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated! Feel free to comment here or tweet @JordanOnSocial.
Thanks in advance!!!
Facebook stock pops as ad sales surge
See on Scoop.it - social media and digital strategyI know a LOT of people who will be very happy to hear this… I’m still personally not buying the stock anytime soon tough :)
Facebook’s second earnings report as a public company came in just above Wall Street estimates, but that was enough for investors to give shares a nice boost.
